Knit Mitten Workshop with Liane Schwarz

Skill Level: beginner (after hats)
Monday Feb 14 & 21, 6:30-8pm
The next step after making hats is making mitts! Mitts are a lot like hats: fast, easy, satisfying, inexpensive, and they make great gifts! We'll teach you how to knit in the round on double pointed needles, how to decrease and increase stitches, how to pick-up stitches and how to read a pattern. Knowing how to cast on and knit is the only requisite.
  • Consists of 2 sessions over 2 weeks.

NEW! Cabled Cowl Liane Schwarz
Skill Level: intermediate-beginner
Tuesday Feb 15 & 22, 6-8pm
Love the sumptuous texture of cables? Then try this workshop on for size. Here you will have the opportunity to choose a project that suits your skill level--a cowl with giant twist cables (perfect for beginners), or a cowl with traveling cables (for those who prefer more of a challenge). By the time you finish, you will have learned how to use a cable needle or hook, how to make basic cables, traveling cables, and how to read basic cable patterns and charts. Knowing how to knit in the round is an asset, but not necessary.

My First Sock Liane Schwarz
Skill Level: advanced-beginner
Monday Feb 28 & Mar 7, 6-8pm both nights
Tuesday May 10 & 17, 6-8pm both nights
Socks seem hard, but they don't have to be. In this workshop you will make a beginner friendly toe-up sock. While you make your sock, you'll follow a pattern, use double pointed needles, increase, decrease and learn to pick up and wrap stitches. And when you behold the beauty of you mitered toes and heels, you will appreciate how truly satisfying a hand-made sock can be!
You must know how to knit, purl, cast-on & off for this class.

NEW Easy Baby Bolero Liane Schwarz
Skill Level: intermediate
Tuesday Mach 1 & 8, 6:00-8pm
Whether you need baby steps to get you over the sweater hump or you need a present for your favourite munchkin, this is the class for you! Learn how to read a sweater pattern, how to shape a raglan yoke, how to knit in the round, how to make sleeves, how to pick up stitches, and how to make button banding. Two available options: a traditional raglan cardigan for either sex, or an adorable shrug perfect for your budding ballerina. The only requisites are knowing how to cast-on, and how to knit and purl.

NEW Beginner Cardigan Liane Schwarz
Skill level: Beginner (after scarves)
Monday March 14 &21, 6-8pm
This class will leave you asking why you waited so long to make a sweater. Here you will make a sumptuous bulky raglan cardi, knit from the neck down in one piece—so fast and easy! Along the way, you will gain basic skills that will put you on the path towards more complex sweater projects.
  • Consists of 2 sessions over 2 weeks

Beginner Knitting with Liane SchwarzSkill Level: absolute beginner
Tuesday March 15 & 22, 6:00-8pm
You'll learn all the basics: how to knit, purl, put stitches on your needle (cast on), finish up (cast off), change yarn in the middle of your project, weave in your ends, and how to read a ball band as well as a basic pattern. You should be able to make a scarf in this class (but you have to do your homework, so get ready to spend a few hours of down time working on your assignment in front of the TV).
  • Class consists of 2 sessions over 2 weeks
  • $40 + tax (materials not included $20)



Knitted Hat Workshop with Liane Schwarz
Skill Level: Beginner (after scarves)
Monday Mar 28 & Apr 4, 6:30-8pm
The next step after making scarves is making hats! Hats are fast, easy, and very, very satisfying! With a choice of three stylin’ styles, we'll teach you how to knit in the round, how to knit on double pointed needles (the ones that look like little chopsticks), how to decrease stitches and how to read a pattern. Knowing how to cast on and knit is the only requisite.
  • Consists of 2 sessions over 2 weeks.

NEW! Falling Leaves Shawlette with Liane SchwarzSkill Level: intermediate beginner
Tuesday Mar 29 & April 5, 6:00-8pm
While you work on the beautiful leaf-lace pattern of this round shawlette (which can also be worn as a jumbo snugly scarf) you will learn the basic principles of lace (yarn overs, fancy increases and decreases), as well as how to make simple cabled twists. So if you can’t decide between lace or cables, then this is the workshop for you! The only requisites are knowing how to cast on, knit and purl.
