Interweave Knits Spring 2009

The Spring 2009 Interweave Knits ($7.99) has also been around for a few weeks already but it's worth taking a glance because there are some really nice projects!

Super pretty Silk Cocoon Cardigan

Diminshing Rib Cardigan, make it in cotton or wool or anything that's worsted weight!

Whisper Cardigan is made with lace wight yarn

Net Duffle Bag, prefect in Super 10 cotton!

Knitscene Spring 2009

Knitscene Spring 2009

The new Spring 2009 Knitscene has actually been around for a little bit, but I haven't blogged about it yet and there are some nice projects

A simple to knit/easy to wear vest like Solvang is a no brainer and you'll be able to wear it next fall and winter too.

Blue Filigree Hat may not be on your mind as the sun comes out of hiding but come fall it will be!

The same thing goes for the Tempest Beret , get the magazine and file it under "to-do".

Pretty, casual, and wearable sweaters like Forever Tweed never go out of style. Ever. Plus it's knit top-down pullovers in the round, a simple and satisfying knit. It would look great (and get gauge) in Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran Tweed on a 5mm needle.

Interweave Crochet Spring 2009

The new Spring 2009 Interweave Crochet just arrived and its got some really nice projects, and only $7.99!

I love the Still Waters Shrug ! It is great for all seasons, even winter, but especially Spring and Summer. When I get a chance I'm going to make this one for sure. I really like shrugs because they are the perfect little cover up with dresses and skirts, they are a fast little project and relatively simply shaped, so I don't have to pay too much attention.

This is a super Recessionista Project! I really like lacy cravats and scarves like Emerald Scarf because they are an easy, fancy accessory that instantly makes an outfit interesting and pretty. The last ready-to-wear one I saw that was made from an so-so fibre was more than $100, but if you used the exact yardage in Misti Alpaca Laceweight it would only cost $34 (although i don't expect that the project would actually use more than 1000m, which would bring it to $25.50).

A great looking wide brimmed hat is a VERY good thing! Especially an Audrey crocheted hat because you can squish it and travel with it without wrecking it. If you want the brim to have more structure you can get hat wire from a sewing store and feed it though the brim. To i would crochet a flap at the edge and turn it down and sew it in place to make a 'pocket' to house the wire so you can't see it, or alternately just crochet it to the edge with a slip stitch.)

Debbie Bliss Magazine Spring/Summer 2009

The new Debbie Bliss Magazine is in store. It has some really great patterns and project ideas and only costs $8.99.

Great baby pea coat in a worsted weight yarn, alone worth the price of the magazine.

a pretty yoke pullover. the pattern is written in pieces and then joined to knit the yoke in the round, but you can simplify things by knitting it in the round from the bottom up.

The perfect go- everywhere hooded cardigan you'll wear everywhere and all the time!

another great, casual cardigan!

simple, elegant summer tank, or dress it up as a vest and wear it with a crisp, white shirt.

pretty vintage style pillows for your home.

New Free Pattern: Easy Mobius Capelet

Easy Mobius Capelet Pattern by Haley Waxberg

Download FREE pattern HERE
The pattern is very simple, fast, and satisfying for time when you just need to produce something FAST. It is knit in the round using a really long circular needle and a nifty little cast on just for mobius knitting. To learn this easy new skill you can watch Cat Bohrdi's great Intro to Mobius Knitting tutorial on you tube. Cat's instructions are clear and easy to follow and you'll be an expert in no time! The yarn we've used is handpainted. It is soft and has a slight sheen because of it's silk content. Please note that silk has a tendency to grow with wear, so if you want your cowl bigger I suggest you block it bigger and if you want it smaller either subtract some sts from the cast on or reduce your needle size. That said, the look is big, loose and casual and it's easy to go with the flow of this garment. If you want to make the cowl wider without using more yarn work exclusively in the knit stitch: the cowl won't be reversible but ribbing sucks up yarn.
